Belgium's National Performance Director, the former England Test wicket-keeper and batsman Jack Richards, says 2011 has been "a very productive season, which is reflected in our rise up the ICC-Europe rankings".

In what has probably been the busiest season ever for Belgium in both domestic and international cricket at all levels and formats, the Belgian national squad progressed unbeaten through ICC-Europe Division 2 and was promoted to Division 1 where it finished 7th of the 12 nations. It is now ranked 11th in 50-over cricket and 10th in T20.
"Belgium can be very proud of the team's performance, especially since a number of key players were not able to take part in the Division 1 Championships," Jack said. "Now we have a very good opportunity to qualify for the World Cricket League."
Belgium's next step is to gain entry to the WCL (50 overs) through a qualifying tournament against three other European countries - France, Gibraltar and Austria - early next year.
